The Long Story

The pallet of this project takes inspiration from the calming cool colors of the Pacific and juxtaposes that with the rough natural texture of concrete and steel that make up the primary structure of this modern building. To further tie the interiors of this Multi-Family housing project's amenity spaces to the local landscape, a large feature wall made from 1/4" thick steel laser cut into a map of San Diego was installed on stand-offs in the CMU, with an array of brass dowels signifying local landmarks accessible to the building on foot or by bicycle.

Controlled undulating surfaces and color densities create
unique moments of interest as seen with the walls and ceiling of the Lobby entrance, which transitions inside, seen double at night when the space is illuminated.

The special design is open and airy and the overall aesthetic is clean and youthful, the redwood wall panels providing an inviting and cozy accent to the otherwise modern architecture.
