Scope: Design Development, Fabrication
Collaborators: Sideyard Project
With an emphasis on mobility and replication, the latest Coffee & Tea Collective utilizes distinct carts as counter tops for service and function. The design emphasizes contrasts, both in colors and pigments as well as between materials. Playing on the Japanese craft of udukuri, pine slabs were sandblasted to expose the natural grain and painted with multiple layers of paint. After sanding and a thick coat of grey tinted resin, the counter tops were mated with their blackened steel structures. Repositionable and mobile, the carts define the space while allowing for ultimate flexibility of function.
